Misssion Statement

Established in 2013, the KHS Red Devil Band Boosters Inc. is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to supporting the Kathleen High School Band program. Comprised of volunteer parents/guardians, alumni, school staff, and community members, our mission is to assist with fundraising, concessions, equipment purchases, appearances, competitions, and other essential aspects of the band program. All parents/guardians of students involved in the band program are automatically voting members of the booster organization.

Our executive board, including the President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Band Director, oversees the management and organization of resources. Executive board members are nominated and elected annually, with all parents, guardians, and volunteer members eligible for nomination.

The KHS Red Devil Band Boosters Inc. adheres to the Polk County School Board’s “Guidelines for Internal and External Support Organizations.” All volunteers must follow these guidelines and report any violations to the Band Boosters Executive Board, the Director of Bands, and/or Polk County Public Schools.

This organization shall be operated as a nonprofit organization exclusively for the support of music education and as such, will support the following educations objectives: Cultural, Educational, Service, Citizenship, and Recreational.

This corporation is organized and operated exclusively for CHARITABLE and EDUCATIONAL purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Notwithstanding any other provision of these articles, the corporation shall not carry on any other activities not permitted to be carried on (1) by a corporation exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. 

No substantial part of the activities of this corporation shall consist of carrying on propaganda, or otherwise attempting to influence legislation, and the corporation shall not participate or intervene in any political campaign (including the publishing or distribution of statements) on behalf of, or in opposition to, any candidate for public office. 

The property of this corporation is irrevocably dedicated to charitable purposes of the marching band and no part of the net income or assets of the organization shall ever inure to the benefit of any director, officer, or member thereof or to the benefit of any private person. 

On the dissolution or winding up of the corporation, its assets remaining after payment of, or provision for payment of, all debts and liabilities of this corporation, shall be distributed to a nonprofit fund, foundation, or corporation which is organized and operated exclusively for Kathleen High School Band and which has established its tax-exempt status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code

The Band Director schedules a parent meeting towards the end of each school year (typically in May). During this meeting, parents, guardians, and volunteer members present can nominate individuals for the four executive board positions.

A nominee must accept their nomination and agree to take on the responsibilities of the position before proceeding to a vote.

Once the nominee accepts the nomination, attendees of the meeting will cast their votes to elect the nominee for one of the four executive board positions: President, Vice President, Treasurer, and Secretary.
